I started this project on 2005.03.24.
I borrowed most of the code from my diary mechanism.
The front end that visitors see should be almost identical to my old verses mechanism.
The verses mechanism was originally done with C++ and shell scripts.
I typed up everything in a plain text file, I run a program that I wrote (called bundler, for the reference) and it bundles everything together.
However, some parts are still hand implemented, specifically the main links page and also month change.
I am putting this to a database approach, having worked on donut (the Caltech ASCIT website) for some while, getting more familiar with the ease of use of a database as data storage.
With a day's work, I basically managed to match the ease of use with my originalmechanism.
I am still in the process of coding this verses mechanism.
It is completely done by me with php
and mysql.
